Visibility is an important asset for a child model

Once you have got a portfolio prepared for your child or toddler, it is important to get the portfolio across to the people who matter. It is not just enough to send out a few letters or emails with the photographs. Even though it sounds a bit crass, it is important that you market your child.

It makes a lot of sense to join a modelling agency and be a part of their team. They are the ones who have the contacts and they will be able to best judge where to send your child’s photographs or portfolio and how to get him/her the modelling assignments.

However, it is also important that you also do your part in increasing the visibility of your child. Set up a blog about him/her. Put his/her images there and write about them and about the assignments that they may have completed.

Join the social networking sites where they may be groups of parents of child models. Or even on your own social networking site talk about it. You may be reluctant to do so initially, but if you are planning to make your child into a successful model, then the effort has to come mainly from you.
