Breakfast is important for kids and a survey reports say that only 60% percent of the children eat breakfast properly. This however is very disappointing mainly for the reason that breakfast is the most important meal of the day. As the name suggests breakfast is the name given to the meal which breaks the fast. It is the first meal of the day. It has been found that children eating a good breakfast have high grades in mathematics and better reading scores with an increased attention.
Eating a good breakfast keeps a control of the children’s weight, the level of blood cholesterol is lower, attendance in school is regular and there is rare visits to doctor. Whereas children who do not eat breakfast properly have a low nutritional level since breakfast gives consists the most nutritious food with more complains of tummy aches, and more health problems.
It should be made known children eating breakfast should be made to eat food mainly consisting of proper level of minerals for example calcium, magnesium, phosphorous and vitamins A, C and B12 and riboflavin. If a kid skips a breakfast, eating other meals through the day will not make up for the calories missed. Parents should see that their children’s breakfast should consist of fruit and milk of cereal, cheese with toasted bagel, yoghurt with a combination of fruit bar, whole-wheat toast with peanut butter and fruit juice. After all, a healthy breakfast leads to a healthy heart.
