Is your child sleeping enough?
Sleeping is a major problem common in almost all children. Parents often face this question of whether their children are getting enough of sleep. It is important that children are getting enough of sleep because it helps for all aspects of the children. But studies have proved that children do not get the amount of sleep generally needed for them which often results in poor concentration, bad achievements in school, poor grades and sudden change in behavior. Starting from newborns to the adults, everyone suffer from irregular sleep. Newborns must sleep for an average of 16- 17 hours a day but it often results that in sleeping for only 1 or 2 at one time. And as they grow up, their sleep starts decreasing more. Lesser hours of seep affects the behavior of the children of 2- 5 years very much. Children sleeping less than 10 years continuously may face problems related to behavior, psychiatric, and can become very much aggressive.
However, following some basic guidelines by the parents can change the scenario. Parents must make sure that their children follow a quiet time before they are read to go to bed which can be reading stories, or singing or taking warm shower. Children must be directed to go to bed at the same time everyday, consistency should be maintained. The children must feel comfortable while sleeping and make sure not to sleep with the child as this make your child feel dependent. Children must have with them their favorite toys, teddy bears or other goodies with them for sleep.
