Parents should be responsible enough to teach their children about medicines which will help in maintaining good health practices. The proper knowledge about medicines will also help children in the long run. Children mostly suffer from viral and bacterial infections. Children should know that the most commonly used tablet ‘paracetemol’ is used for fever and pain. Teaching children about the types of medicines are found like tablets, liquids, syrups, capsules, drops and granules will prove to be helpful for them.
Consulting a doctor before opting for the right kind of medicine for children is needed, because the children might not like a particular kind of tablet or syrup. It is common among small children that they like flavored medicines. Parents must be careful while giving medicines to their children like the right amount to be given in case of liquid medicine, making the children consume only the prescribed medicine, to find out if there is any side effect of the medicines in the children. It is also advised that certain liquid medicines which taste bitter can be added with juices for the children might find the taste to be bad.
