Minerals and Vitamins for your child
Although you may give your child an age appropriate multivitamin if you or your Pediatrician feels that your child needs one, it is probably better to try and reach his daily requirements or recommended daily allowance by providing him with a well balanced diet. Children should be made to follow a proper diet so that it helps in growth and development of the body and also in maintaining a healthy life. A healthy life can be achieved if the diet of the children has food containing appropriate amount of vitamins and mineral. There are many children, who follow poor and restricted diet which lead them to have more medical problems, like lever problems and chronic diseases These categories of children need immediate care and a proper diet so that they can supply adequate minerals and the children’s deficiencies are prevented.
Children who do not drink fluoridated water need to be fed supplements of fluoride. Parents must provide their children with a diet, which is well balanced so that their basic requirements for proper functioning of the body are met. Vitamins like vitamins A, C, K, D and minerals like zinc, fluoride, calcium and iron is highly recommended. Vitamin A, which is found in milk, helps in preventing mal absorption of fat, the excellent sources of Vitamin C, vegetables and fruits are needed for infants. While vitamin K helps in proper clotting of blood, consuming food containing vitamin D helps infants with rickets. Both calcium and iron is needed for the development of the body and adequate amount of fluoride is needed to prevent cavities and zinc is essential for adolescents.
