One look at a playground is enough to understand how children love being physically active. Children love to play all day till they exhaust their energy. But in today’s playstation generation, children get very less physical exercise and as a result, today’s parents are understandably worried about their children’s health. Fast foods and chocolates only add to the woe. Result: Obesity.
Poor diet and lack of physical exercise are the primary causes of obesity. Obesity in childhood leads to the following:
• Reduced energy
• Lack of self-confidence and self-esteem
• Increased pressure on bones and joints
• Increased chances of becoming obese adults
Even without obesity, there are enough reasons to worry about like diabetes, heart diseases, strokes, etc. Here a few tips to keep your child physically active:
• Be an example yourself first by being active. Make that early morning jog a habit.
• Develop active pursuits with your kids regularly to the park or playground .
• Join children’s clubs. They encourage joint swimming, playing,etc.
• Cycle, jog and walk together with your kids whenever possible.
• Encourage children to use playgrounds and playing with other children. This will be exciting for the children as well.
Present physical activity to your children as a joyous activity and something worthwhile, and you can be happy for giving them a good start to a healthy life.
