Planning and decorating a kid’s room is not easy. An adult has to take all the precautionary and safety measures and blend them with childlike fantasy.
Consider the following before decoration:
• The décor must be less expensive and frequently and easily changeable.
• Kid’s room needs separate areas for playing, sleeping and working/studying. And they need to be spread out.
• A bare minimum is a bed, a storage area like shelf, and a study table.
A few ideas:
• Kids love colors. Make them bright and vivid. Use paint to decorate the room, but don’t use it on walls.
• Buy large pictures or murals and hang them on the wall. A life sized collage of their favorite animated characters would be the best.
• Floor: Choose a dark shade floor cover which can pass off with dirt color.
• Storage: To keep toys and play items within reach of children but out of the way, buy storage bins that can fit under the bed or stack in the closet. Inside the closet, use hanging racks, and provide hooks behind doors and on the walls for hanging frequently used clothes. Make sure the height is reachable by your child.
• Beds: This can take on plenty of varieties. Spaceships, dolphins, submarines, etc the list is endless. All it takes is a little bit of imagination and fantasy to convert a plain headboard into a spaceship !
Remember, the room you decorate will be a memory your child and yourself will cherish forever.
