Teens: Alcohol and drug abuse

Teenage life being the most decisive age in one’s life, the parents must be very careful about their sons and daughters who are teenagers. It is the time when children come out from their childhood yet they don’t reach their adulthood. At teens, teenagers are exposed to an altogether different world or the more realistic world and they learn various new things. It is where, teenager cannot make the difference between the right and the wrong because there is an urge to explore new things in teenagers. The most common problem in a teenager’s life is getting involved in activities that are often deemed illegal. The first and fore most comes under this category is drugs and alcohol abuse. It is very common that teenage will be influenced by things which they have not come across in childhood and they get involved in drinking and drugs in a fit to make a impression.

They try to impress their friends by showing them that they can do these things. But they remain unaware about how badly their bodies are affected by it. Getting used to drinking habit and using drugs in this tender age also result from peer pressure. Alcohol affects both the mind and the body in various ways. Alcohol affects the brain, changes the perceptions; vision, coordination, hearing and most importantly it blocks the messages from going to the brain. Both drugs and alcohol are easily accessible for teens. Parents should take a note of what their teenager sons and daughters do and teenagers should also understand that life is beyond indulging in these bad activities.
